Egypt And Namibia Upgrade Bilateral Relations

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry meet in Addis Ababa on 02 Feb 2019 with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations & Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah.
The two countries held a high level meeting officiated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shukri, on Friday to discuss with Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the Namibia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. The two sides highlight some critical areas needed to improve bilateral relations between Namibia and Egypt as well as fostering issues of mutual interest and regional. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the African Union’s Executive Council  meetings participated by several foreign ministers, and currently being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 


The discussion came at the beginning of the second day of the meetings of the Executive Council of the African Union held at the ministerial level from 07 and 8 August. Shoukry affirmed the importance of Egypt-Namibia relations in all fields, particularly with regard to trade exchange and expertise. He added that Cairo is ready to offer its experience in different fields like trades and business entrepreneurship, he also expressed Egypt 's readiness to offer its expertise in various fields through the agency of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD).  In the same regard, Shoukry noted that Egypt is looking forward to working with all African states during its chairmanship of the African Union in 2019. He also reviewed the Egyptian Presidency’s priorities that seek to achieve regional economic integration, social and economic development as well as peace and security.  

He maintained that Egypt's aspiration is to work with all African brothers during its stewardship of the African Union in 2019, reviewing the priorities of the presidency of the Egyptian , which include economic integration, regional development, socio emancipation, peace and security, and build bridges of communication and cultural civilization among peoples. As well as cooperation with international partners. 

The two sides agreed on the importance of convening the Joint Committee at the earliest possible opportunity. The two sides also stressed the importance of maintaining the unity of the African position in general, especially with regard to the issue of reform and expansion of the Security Council under the "Ezulwini Consensus" umbrella.
