Grow Your Food And Eat Your Own Food Other Than GMOs

Vambos are hard-working people who usually no need food donation for survival.
The surprising difference between organic food and GMO tainted food that nowadays creeping on the shelves in the local shops common retailers that owned by multinationals. As a general health concern this has became a critical issue for everyone to care or protect himself or herself from the danger posed by GMOs; you can make the best choices for your own health. The more we know, the better we can be all safe from these becomingly problems facing our small Namibian population and more particular the Ovambo people. 

Vambo's people have their own distinctive characters (cultures) and unique cuisines (eatery) which almost similar to Ovakavangos. Unlike other Namibian communities whose their livelihood depends on rices,macaroni and buttered breads from Shoprite, Checkers and Pick n Pay. The Vambos their main staple food is only porridge (Oshifima/Oshimbombo) made from Omahagu or using Top-Score floor from the market to prepare (Oshifima Shepungu) and Sunflower (Omagandhi Goshoolo). The agenda of depopulating the continent where Namibia is not exceptional. Must awake you! By tainting Vambos' food sources such the Top-Score and others from the supplying companies like Bokomo and Namib Mills it might be an excellent way in level the political equilibrium of the country. Vambos are majority whom regarded too populous and very dominant to other less tribes in the country.



Remember, no one will be much concern if Vambos' men and women become infertile or its population technically disintegrated or actually declined. It's your own responsibility to watch-over your shoulders, otherwise in this thievery world where economical greediness has blinded people include the your political leaders who sold us to the vampires' business like MOSANTO for profits and clumsy investments, which have no positive impact to the general welfare to the nations. Some of these food products under the label ''BAYER'' we receiving from American multinational companies already banned in entire Europe even in United States where their headquarters are. But here in Africa, particularly Namibia GMO product is profitable enterprise that often regarded a big investment.

The modern Agro industry has aggressively imposing its clause over the traditional methods and way of farming crops include Mahangu, of course it somehow a supportive technological advancement, but it hold a calculated implications particularly for GMOs and GM seeds (Okasana/Okalyaa). For decades, the industry has been mixing natural genetic traits with those artificially engineered seeds in the search for particularly robust varieties. GM seeds characterized as seeds that have been modified in a scientific labs to contain specific environmental characteristics such as resistance to herbicides and so forth. Genetically-modified (GM) seeds seen as significant step forward for crop yields. 

Vambos are hard-working people who usually no need food donation or relying on the commercial products for survival. However, today under the newly introduced GM seeds (Okasana/Okalyaa) people are contracted to biotech companies monopoly and their rights to own their genuine seeds in the barns had replaced with purchased seeds and other obligation to obey the provision that stating "no saved seed". The GM seeds provision prohibits growers from saving seed and/or reusing the remaining seeds for the next cultivation. GM crops are short-life span and as an effect, the multinational contracts require growers/farmers to make an annual purchase of GM seeds. Remember that we do have some very poor people and homesteads that struggling to produce $1 to feed even themselves, but what will happened when all natural Millet seeds, Sorghum and Maize seeds completely substituted by Monsanto's GM seeds? This will led into a perpetual dependency to the capitalistic world of genetically engineered food! 

Omahangu: (Pennisetum glaucum), is an African indigenous crop, which commonly known as a pearl millet, it have been cultivated by Bantu people for the last 4000 years. Omahangu is Manna of Ovambo’s people and a very nutritious food staple. It is thought to have originally been cultivated in the Sahel zone of West Africa from where it spread to east and southern Africa. Unlike exotic maize and wheat, pearl millet is a hardy local grain that can able to cope and grow in areas of low soil fertility, high temperature, in soils with high salinity and low pH. Omahangu crops are the most widely grown of the millet varieties, it is cultivated in a vast area that includes West Africa, East Africa, Malawi, Angola, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. It is also grown in India where it was introduced thousands of years ago. In Namibia, maize and pearl millet are customized crops, ensuring local consumption and food security. Only a small percentage of Mahangu is commercially marketed, although there is ''Me Mahangu'' products in the market which being sidelined by the doctored food products of multinationals.

The millet usually grows up to about two or three metres and has several culms that end in dense cylindrical spikes. The seeds are white-yellow to grey in colour, about four millimetres long and are pointed at one end. Cereals are same grains, but belonging to the grass family – Poaceae, such as pearl millet, and Gramineae – have been around for aeons becoming staple diets of people worldwide and an integral part of human life. Sowing and reaping are cultural rituals that have been woven into the fabric of communal life.

Oshifima: Mostly made with a mixture of maize meal and Mahangu flour or just with pure Mahangu flour, the porridge can be served with different sauces. It is an everyday meal for the Ovambo people  and it serves a major source of energy.


GMO: Essentially anyone can say that their product is non-GMO, because there are no set standards to regulate the use of this claim on food's label. Some food manufacturers have been caught red-handed with unverified claims on their packages that say they are “non-GMO” when they really aren’t. Since there are no proper government regulations or an independent 3rd party entities to verify their claims, there is also corruption going on in this regards of promoting and supplying GMOs into the country straight away from America, where they being produced by US biotech companies like Monsanto, the leader in GMO products along with other major companies such as DuPont, Dow, BASF, Bayer and Syngenta.

10 Reasons To Avoid GMOs

According to research conducted by the Cornucopia Institute and World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer show that “food-grade carrageenan causes gastrointestinal inflammation and higher rates of intestinal lesions, ulcerations, and even malignant tumors:

1. GMOs are unhealthy: Many researches includes American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) urges people to use organic food instead. Many studies have conducted to test GMOs using animals experiments with GMOs, and the results from those studies show organ damage, gastrointestinal and immune system disorders, accelerated aging, and infertility. Genetically modified (GM) food can leave residual substances inside human being,possibly causing long-term problems. Because, the bacteria in those genes used to be inserted into GM products can transfer into human's genotypes and end up polluting the DNA pool. The percentage of people in the world with unspecified chronic illnesses, food allergies and disorders such as autism, reproductive disorders, digestive problems, and others are on the rise.

 2. GMOs contaminant human genes forever:
It is impossible to fully clean up our contaminated gene pool. Self-propagating GMO pollution will outlast the effects of global warming and nuclear waste. The potential impact is huge, threatening the health of future generations. GMO contamination has also caused economic losses of real food organic and farmers who often struggle to keep their crops pure found themselves no place to sell their genuine products, because markets has saturated with food imports, that crossed the oceans from afar.

3. GMOs increase herbicide use:
Most GM crops are engineered to be “herbicide tolerant”―the deadly weed killer. Monsanto, for example, sells Roundup Ready crops, designed to survive applications of their Roundup herbicide. and the company was sued because of those harmful products it creates.

4. Genetic engineering creates dangerous side effects: By mixing genes from totally unrelated species, genetic engineering unleashes a host of unpredictable side effects. Moreover, irrespective of the type of genes that are inserted, the very process of creating a GM plant can result in massive collateral damage that produces new toxins, allergens, carcinogens, and nutritional deficiencies.

5. Government oversight is dangerously lax: Most of the health and environmental risks of GMOs are ignored by governments’ superficial regulations and safety assessments. The reason for this tragedy is largely political. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), for example, doesn’t require a single safety study, does not mandate labeling of GMOs, and allows companies to put their GM foods onto the market without even notifying the agency. Their justification was the claim that they had no information showing that GM foods were substantially different. But this was a lie. Secret agency memos made public by a lawsuit show that the overwhelming consensus even among the FDA’s own scientists was that GMOs can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects. They urged long-term safety studies. But the White House had instructed the FDA to promote biotechnology, and the agency official in charge of policy was Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, later their vice president. He’s now the US Food Safety Czar.


6. The multinationals uses “tobacco science” to claim product safety: Biotech companies like Monsanto told us that Agent Orange, PCBs, and DDT were safe. They are now using the same type of superficial, rigged research to try and convince us that GMOs are safe. Independent scientists, however, have caught the spin-masters red-handed, demonstrating without doubt how industry-funded research is designed to avoid finding problems, and how adverse findings are distorted or denied.

7. Independent research and reporting is attacked and suppressed: Independent researchers and people who trying to reveal the truth behind this story usually end up being attacked, staged or bribed: Scientists who discover problems with GMOs have been attacked, gagged, fired and threatened. Any attempts by media to expose these problems are also often censored by the order from top-level.

8. GMOs harm the environment: GM crops and their associated herbicides can harm birds, insects, amphibians, marine ecosystems, and soil organisms. They reduce bio-diversity, pollute water resources, and are unsustainable.

 9. GMOs do not increase yields or feeding a hungry world:  Whereas sustainable natural crops used in developing countries have conclusively resulted in yield increases of 79% and higher, GMOs do not, on average, increase yields at all. This was evident in the Union of Concerned Scientists’ 2009 report Failure to Yield―the definitive study to date on GM crops and yield. The International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) report, authored by more than 400 scientists and backed by 58 governments, stated that GM crop yields were “highly variable” and in some cases, “yields declined.” The report noted, “Assessment of the technology lags behind its development, information is anecdotal and contradictory, and uncertainty about possible benefits and damage is unavoidable.” They determined that the current GMOs have nothing to offer the goals of reducing hunger and poverty, improving nutrition, health and rural livelihoods, and facilitating social and environmental sustainability. On the contrary, GMOs divert money and resources that would otherwise be spent on more safe, reliable, and appropriate technologies.

10. Avoid Genetically Engineered products: By avoiding GMOs, you contribute to the coming tipping point of consumer rejection, forcing them out of our food supply. Because GMOs give no consumer benefits, if even a small percentage of us start rejecting brands that contain them, GM ingredients will become a marketing liability. Food companies will kick them out. In Europe, for example, the tipping point was achieved in 1999, just after a high profile GMO safety scandal hit the papers and alerted citizens to the potential dangers. In the US, a consumer rebellion against GM bovine growth hormone has also reached a tipping point, kicked the cow drug out of dairy products by Wal-Mart, Starbucks, Dannon, Yoplait, and most of America’s dairies.
